The Sound of Tents Unzipping
One of the most comforting sounds I think I’ve heard over the past few evenings is the sound of tents unzipping. You may be thinking how in the world is that a comforting sound? Out here in Beauchamp, we have set up a schedule and during the night every hour someone is praying for the rest of the group, the mission, our families back home, our purpose for being here, clarity from God and what he would have us do while we are here in Haiti and what we can do once we are back home. You see to me one of the greatest comforts is knowing that people are praying for me. So what would normally be an annoying sound in the middle of the night at a random camp out or camping vacation is the sound of God’s people waking up from their comfort, and sleep to get up pray about the ones who they are traveling with and the ones we have come to serve. It really is a great sound. It is amazing what God does when his people pray.
On a different note today we are purifying rainwater to drink, mike says it never rains in Beauchamp, but it sure has rained the last few days. But it is welcomed by the locals and our group as well. The locals are able to now plant their gardens, and collect some much-needed drinking water. We just enjoyed the awesomeness of a good rain and seeing the kids play in it and smile because of it.
The youth convention starts tonight in just a few hours. We are expecting 110 youth, ages 13-19. We are going to be talking about relationships with god and family. Our groups are working on songs in Creole and English for worship. This is going to be an amazing adventure. We are praying that god will move in a mighty way.
