Welcome to the NEW Phat Rok dot com
After a year of no blogging and an old design… it is time to relaunch! Thanks for sticking around.
Today, and over the weekend I have many things to do. This coming Thursday two things will be happening that I know God is going to amazingly show Himself like only only He can. The first thing is that the 20th-the 23rd of November is the Youth Specialties conference. Yeah it’s pretty amazing to go to YS. The second thing is that I will be driving my motorcycle to Atlanta to “deliver” it to my best friend. If you are wandering what this is all about, I will refer you to the posts about searching, and that will bring you up to speed. So as I said, Thursday I will ride my motorcycle to Atlanta GA. and hand over the keys. Then I will go in and register for Youth Specialties and meet up with the rest of my team from H.CC. and that is going to be an...
The Sound of Tents Unzipping
One of the most comforting sounds I think I’ve heard over the past few evenings is the sound of tents unzipping. You may be thinking how in the world is that a comforting sound? Out here in Beauchamp, we have set up a schedule and during the night every hour someone is praying for the rest of the group, the mission, our families back home, our purpose for being here, clarity from God and what he would have us do while we are here in Haiti and what we can do once we are back home. You see to me one of the greatest comforts is knowing that people are praying for me. So what would normally be an annoying sound in the middle of the night at a random camp out or camping vacation is the sound of God’s people waking up from their comfort, and sleep to get up pray...
Another Haiti Update
via email… hey everyone, last night was amazing, our god is so awesome, and he continues to amaze us. we hosted around 70 haitian teenagers, and we have had a blast so far. we are learning about them and they are learning about us. everyone our team is doing well, and working well together. mike and teresa have told me several times what a blessing our team has been to them personally and to the people in their community. it is amazing that we have been able to set aside communication barriers and build relationships with our new family members in christ. the youth conference continues through tomorrow afternoon. right now we are having a soccer match americans vs. the haitians… we are so going to get beat, and they are playing without shoes. see you...
Haiti Update
via email… hey everyone we have had a great time in haiti, everyone is doing well, today we were able to purchase wood and materials for the church in le plain, then our men, and young men went over and worked with our haitian brothers to build benches for the church and their upcoming revival. while they were building the benches we had another group at the sam church doing vbs and games with the chldren. this afternon we had a pretty amazing rain storm, then we all worked together to get all of our stuff dried out. at 4 pm we started a lua party for the gran moun {sr citizens} we served them brownies, made necklaces with them and painted their fingernails. then we shared with them the story about jesus washing his disciples feet, and we did the same for...
Epic
I think I need to start this entry by re-stating my comment from an earlier blog. It still amazes me the sadness that accompanies happiness. We have now been in Haiti for three days, we have experienced two awesome bus rides, a total of two flat tires, and the muffler came off our first bus. Let me begin with our first bus ride. If i had to use only word to describe our first bus ride from port au prince to St Louis Dunord, it would be “epic!” it normally takes 8 hours to make this trip, you get one stop at the four hour mark. Our driver {who I would put up against any NASCAR driver, or the best figure 8 bus racer in the us} was awesome. I have traveled to many places, both in the US and abroad, I have been on similar buses in Mexico, France, Rome, etc. This...
