Wow

This week i am at the CIY move conference in Cleveland TN. If you have never heard of CIY or are not sure what CIY or MOVE is about, you can check out their website www.ciy.com CIY is an abbreviation for Christ in Youth, they are a christian organization that has been directing young people to Jesus Christ for years, and they do a good job of it. Typically a week long conference at CIY starts out good and ends great. I have been to CIY eighteen times in my life, and every year I leave saying I don’t know how they are going to improve on what I just witnessed, and experienced through the eyes of the teenagers that have been part of the conference. But every year they seem to take it up notch. Not in performance and craziness and stuff, but in taking God and...

Are You Being a Good Steward?

A JOURNEY WITH JESUS STEWARDSHIP… SERVING LIKE JESUS disclaimer…” even though  I have written this in all caps, I am not yelling at any one. La-La-La-La I Can’t hear you Jesus

Recently I wrote a sermon for our Sunday evening youth group called F.U.S.I.O.N.  Yes each letter stands for something that we are focusing on for the year. The F stands for Faithful Follower. I was writing the sermon about Stephen and how he was a faithful follower of Jesus. As I was reading about Stephen in Acts chapter 6 and 7, I realized that we are {more than we would like to admit} a lot like the members of the Synagogue of the Freedmen. Acts6:9 When I read over the following verses … 54When they heard this, they were furious and gnashed their teeth at him. 55But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. 56“Look,” he said, “I see heaven open and the...

It’s Amazing How Sad Happiness Can Be!

I just watched Mitzi and Dylan go through the TSA security check at Birmingham Intl. Airport. That was the sad part. This morning when we woke up at the hotel, the excitement of their trip to Florida was just bubbling from Dylan. The thoughts of being with his cousins Zoe and Mackenzie and his uncles Sean and Shawn, aunt Tonya, aunt Erica, Mimi and Pappy, auntie Gail and uncle Dingo and his ma-ma. And the rest of the family he was sharing with me what they were going to do in Florida, Disney and Ron Jons and all that stuff. That was the happiness. Watching my little man go through security and then getting to a point where he wanted to give me one last hug, but couldn’t because you can’t cross the black web rope thing. He doesn’t understand why, he doesn’t...
